# VerseLab partial data deletion (without deleting your account) Last updated: 2025-11-04 This page explains how you can delete specific data you control inside VerseLab without deleting your entire account. It will be linked from the Google Play store listing for VerseLab (developer: VerseLab). If you want to permanently delete your entire account instead, see: account_deletion.md ## How to request deletion of specific data Most content can be removed directly in the app. If you cannot complete a step below, contact us and we will help. Support email: support@verselabapp.com Subject: Partial Data Deletion Request Include: - Your VerseLab username and the email on your account - What you want to delete (type of data and links/screenshots) - Reason (optional) We may ask you to verify ownership of the account or content before proceeding. ## Delete data yourself in the app - Poems you created - Open the poem > tap the ••• menu > Delete Poem. - Effect: the poem and its attached media are removed from feeds, search, your profile, and club views. Associated reactions on that poem disappear. - Comments you posted - Long‑press or tap the ••• on your comment > Delete. - Effect: the comment disappears from the thread everywhere it appears. - Reactions (likes/laughs, etc.) - Tap the active reaction to remove/unreact. - Effect: your reaction is removed from counts and viewers. - Direct messages you sent - Open a conversation > long‑press your message > Remove. - Effect: removes the message from your own view. Recipients may still retain a copy depending on their app state and applicable law. Contact support if you require server‑side removal where permitted. - Media you uploaded in posts/clubs - Edit the post > remove images/videos > Save, or delete the post. - Effect: the removed media will no longer be accessible in the app or via direct links after caches expire. - Saved items / bookmarks - Open Saved > remove items you no longer want to keep. - Effect: removes only your saved reference, not the original post. - Profile details - Edit Profile > update or clear bio, links, avatar. - Effect: fields are updated immediately across the app. - Push notification tokens - Turn off notifications in Settings or sign out. - Effect: we stop using your device token for push delivery. If a control is missing in your region or version, email support and we will process the request manually. ## What is deleted vs. kept (and for how long) We aim to remove user‑initiated deletions quickly from active systems while retaining limited data only where necessary for security, reliability, or legal compliance. Deleted from active systems: - Your own poems, comments, reactions, and attached media you delete - Your saved items/bookmarks when removed by you - Profile fields you overwrite or clear Retained temporarily (typical durations): - Backups and disaster‑recovery snapshots: up to 30 days - Security/audit logs: up to 90 days - CDN caches and search indexes: typically clear within hours; up to 7 days in edge cases Retained or anonymized (not deleted as part of partial deletion): - Aggregated, de‑identified metrics (e.g., counts, trends) that no longer identify you - Records required to prevent fraud/abuse or comply with law - Content copies already delivered to other users’ devices or third‑party caches - Moderation records and reports associated with Terms violations Not covered by partial deletion (requires full account deletion or legal exceptions): - Your account record, followers/following graph - Transactional records (e.g., purchase receipts) where applicable law requires retention ## Typical timeline - In‑app deletions: immediate removal from user‑facing views; may take up to several hours to clear caches and search. - Support‑assisted requests: acknowledgment within 72 hours; completion within 7 days for standard cases. - Backup expiration: purged automatically on the next scheduled backup rotation (typically within 30 days). ## Canceling a partial deletion request If you contacted support and want to cancel before it completes, reply to the same ticket or email chain as soon as possible.
